What is Social & Emotional Development?

"Social-emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which people acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve personal goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make empowered and responsible decisions" - CASEL

"SEL is the process of developing the self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills that are vital for school, work, and life success.

People with strong social-emotional skills are better able to cope with everyday challenges and benefit academically, professionally, and socially. From effective problem-solving to self-discipline, from impulse control to emotion management and more, SEL provides a foundation for positive, long-term effects on kids, adults, and communities.

Children thrive. Schools win. Workplaces benefit. Society strengthens. All due to social-emotional learning." - Committee For Children

"Transferable Skills For Life That Matter"

Connection . Confidence . Creativity . Courage . Communication

In a world full of worries and disconnect... and with marketing strategies and social media amplifying false illusions of health, beauty, self worth and real life situations... our tweens and teens are finding it harder and harder to shine from within.

More than ever our teenagers are feeling lost, without direction, experience dark thoughts, misunderstood, anxious, worried and pressure from many different areas of their lives.

At a time in life when they should be joyfully discovering their authentic selves; increasing resilience; learning about what it means to develop self-serving boundaries and a healthy self esteem... the statistics suggest that mental health, depression and anxiety are on the rise in our young people.

We know how incredibly powerful life coaching can be for adults. Imagine if teenagers had the same opportunity to be guided on a self-discovery journey, all the while connecting with other local teens and learning how important it is to build our tribe.

I am incredibly passionate about supporting tween and teen girls navigate their personal journey with strength and certainty. This home education and holiday offering is a way to assist tween and teen girls develop their ability to empower themselves as they learn what it means to develop healthy and strong self awareness, self acceptance, self worth, self esteem and confidence.

The benefits of teen girls learning how to connect with what healthy relationships look and feel like, helps them transition into early adulthood with the awareness and "innerstanding" about what a nurturing and supportive "tribe" of friends is all about. This is about the girls spending time focusing on the development of their own inner wisdom, and how to have the courage to stay true to themselves.

When we develop personal leadership, life skills and self empowerment, we have the tools we need to navigate the "rough roads" in life. We know how to connect to our own personal power we can learn how to grow through challenging times instead of feeling overwhelmed by them. We learn the art of taking emotional responsibility.

The girls will have their own Self Leadership/SEL workbook that they work through in the group setting. We will incorporate some horse connection time in some sessions, as well as bring in other people to run and facilitate other skill building and experiential learning activities!

Please note: Not all units listed in the 'Module' boxes below will be included as the SEL component is being modified to be delivered in under a year. The girls will be developing interpersonal skills (soft skills) that are highly sought after in employment and other areas of life today.

I am honoured to work with young people here on their personal journeys. My own life has been shaped powerfully by the study of "life principles" and self leadership. I love to help guide teens to connect with their inner personal power and their self-guidance system - we are all born with all that we need. When we learn to tap into our intuition; when we learn what aligning to our personal values means; when we learn to trust our own wisdom; we come to realise that we have all that we need inside of ourselves.

"When teen girls learn how to be a leader of their own life... they learn the art of taking emotional responsibility for themselves. They learn how strong they really are and how to step into their personal power in order to lift themselves up through the toughest times and their darkest days in life... These skills are essential in keeping us moving forward to not only survive...
but to thrive."

My daughter attended a teen workshop for girls in the holidays with Jess and her horses and what a wonderful day she had. Jess is warm, friendly and so lovely. Add the interaction with the horses (which my girl has never been close to in this way), the effect on her was immediate. With all the counsellors etc we have seen the one day spent with Jess and her team outweighs everything else. Can't recommend this amazing opportunity enough.. Jess and horse Hippy, thank you so much for all you are doing and for providing such a beautiful environment to help our kids..... THANK YOU...."💕
